“All I Have, All I Need, is the Air I would Kill to Breathe.” RIP Aaron Douglas

Today, I learned that someone I know passed away this morning.  He was a fellow athlete here in Knoxville.  He played football at Maryville High School and was recruited by the University of Tennessee where he started his freshman year.  He recently transferred to the University of Alabama to continue his football career. He was visiting Jacksonville, Florida which is where he was found dead this morning.

It is heartbreaking to hear such news, especially about someone who you grew up knowing.  I was never a close friend to Aaron, but I knew of him and I watched him play football and basketball in high school.  We went to UT together my freshman year an we both decided to transfer. I know his mother and I love her dearly.  She has a heart of gold and she is a strong woman of God.

These types of incidents get people to start thinking.  I think of my friends and family and how I would react if I were to hear that they would never breathe another breath again; that their life was over and I would not get to tell them goodbye. It is sad that we only think like this when something bad happens.  Prayers are going up for Aaron’s family and friends.  He will be truly missed.

    An Unquestionable True Friend

    Rachel!

I don’t even know where to start!

We have known each other since we were like 5 years old and we have been friends ever since.  We of course have had our ups and downs, just like any other friendship, but we always figure it out sooner or later.

We have always been friends but we became the best of friends in middle school.  That is when we started having our little sleep overs (that lasted all weekend.. hahahaha) and we always had something to do, whether it was hanging out at one of our houses, going to the mall or going to the movies.  We always had fun no matter what we did.

Then I transferred schools my sophomore year of high school and we didnt get to hang out as much, but we always had fun on the weekends. Nothing changed except for the distance!

I love her parents!! They are my second family pretty much. I call them mom #2 and dad #2.  They treat me like their own daughter and always take care of me and let me stay at their house as much as I want.  I love the whole family!

Our friendship has had its tests, and we have definitely passed all of them so far.  This is why I call Rachel “an unquestionable true friend” because no matter what we do, we will always find a way to figure it out.

    I love love LOVE her!
